Dominic was 7 years old when he passed away on September 19, 2009. He was born with a rare vasculitis condition called Takayasu's Arteritis which also caused a heart abnormality. Dominic was brave, loving, funny and silly. We're requesting donations to help fund autoimmune research at Children's Hospital Los Angeles. For check donations, please send to Kerrie Roque 5371 Rosecrest Dr. Huntington Beach, CA 92649. Thank you for your help.
Life is Dominic, and Dominic is life. Every single day is an exciting new day to explore. At the crack of dawn, our little one will be out of bed to start his new day. “Good morning, Mummy! Is it time to get out of bed yet?” Dominic lived life more enthusiastically than others. When the sun was too hot for most people, Dom considered it a great day to play outside. When no one dared go in a cold pool, for Dominic it was the perfect temperature for swimming. When the rain seemed to spoil the day, Dom made it an indoor adventure to draw cars, traffic lights, freeways, and streets. Brown grass was not an eye sore to Dominic but a place for riding his bike or ATV. A driveway and sidewalk were an endless canvass to chalk his artwork. A long drive to
Dom was a connoisseur. The Cheesecake Factory, Buca di Beppo, and Maggiano’s would always satisfy his craving for a well prepared pasta with Alfredo sauce. He compromised with CPK,
Dom was very smart, his mind always amazed us. He could navigate through our local freeways better than any GPS. He learned the motorways in
Loving, brave, caring, kind, adventurous, smart and in his own words “funny, silly boy” are just a few words that sum up Dominic. He was very secure in his world with loving parents Kerrie and Ren; his big brother David, and our family. Dominic loved us all, and especially enjoyed playing and laughing with his cousins. He brought joy when there was sadness in our family. He brought the family together when we drifted apart. He brought meaning to our lives when days seemed hopeless. “What a personality to share with the world. “ – his speech teacher commented to us last year. Dominic will be missed greatly by our family and also by our friends and neighbours, everyone at his schools, all his medical team and therapists, and anyone else who had ever met him. We want to thank everyone for everything they did for Dominic.
Dominic will always be remembered in our heart, mind, and spirit. We can all learn from how Dominic lived, as he always saw life as a “glass half full”. He left everyone he touched the better for knowing him. We love you so much, Dom.
